If you find your Microsoft Office not starting, or one of your apps in Windows 10 does not work properly, here’s a little trick that it probably would get it back right on track quick.

Repair / Reset Options

There are lesser-known options in Apps & Features of Windows 10 which would help to repair or reset your apps or programs you installed previously. Try going to Start  > Settings  > Apps > Apps & features, select the app or program that is not running properly. Select Advanced options under the name of the app, you will find a list of advanced options available to the app your selected. Scroll down towards the bottom you will find a sections called Reset. Here you can find 1 or 2 buttons available: Repair and Reset. Repair will try to repair your app without affecting the app data, which should be your first choice to try. But this choice might not be available for some apps. Reset will basically erase your app and re-install it again, hence your app data will be deleted. This is a choice if Repair did not work or not available.

Not Available in All Your Apps

This App Reset option is very handy when you find one of your apps or programs not running properly or even not starting. I used it a couple of times on Microsoft Office App, a suite including Words, Excel, etc., which did not start at all. Using Repair, it came back alive right away without loosing any of my document history or account information.

However, not every apps or programs have this Reset option available. I find it would usually be available in the Windows standard apps and those apps that were installed through Microsoft Store.
